The colour tone of this LUCA release is inspired by Soft Olive, a tone that matches your wardrobe during all seasons of the year. The colour Soft Olive is as versatile as its taste. The best place to capture this Soft Olive inspired release is restaurant Oliva in Rotterdam.
The olive, known by the botanical name Olea europaea, meaning "European olive", is a species of small tree in the family Oleaceae found in the Medirerranean Basin. The olive's fruit, also called the olive, is of major agricultural importance in the Mediterranean region as the source of olive oil; it is one of the core ingredients in Mediterranean cuisine.
Green olives are picked before ripening and are usually picked at the start of the harvest season, in September and October in the northern hemisphere. Olive trees grow slowly and require meticulous cultivation; in exchange for that intensive investment, their longevity rewards many generations. They live long, long lives—some for as much as a millennium.
From the great variety of olives we took the Picholine as a reference for our Soft Olive colour. These torpedo-shaped French green olives are wonderfully crisp and crunchy, with a tart, nutty, anise-y flavor.
