WEEKEND RETREAT AT STROOM

We captured our collection at STROOM Rotterdam. An urban boutique hotel created in a former electricity factory. This grittily urban building with an uncompromisingly bold and raw style is set out of the city centre but close to the river. It is not just a hotel, it is a relax and friendly place with a brasserie, a espressobar, bakery and store with fresh goods where we feel at ease.

The blocky, dark-brick building with its narrow windows is no thing of classic beauty but of contemporary design. Formerly an electricity power station, the owners have made a virtue of its functional style with hard rubber flooring, exposed girders, metal staircases, and exposed pipes and ducting in primary colours. Its rawness combined with dozens of ferns and pot-plants offers a versatile design mix. Something we at VICO highly appreciate and can relate to, versatility is an element we are always looking for when creating our collections.
