For this edition of VICO Records, we asked Toine to put together a selection of tracks that reflect his sound, his influences, and the rhythm behind his work. The result is a playlist of 15 songs - including three of his own - moving between soul, pop, jazz, and funk. A natural extension of the way he approaches music: fluid, layered, and always grounded in feel.
Toine is a guitarist and vocalist from The Hague, known for this smooth voice and tight guitar playing, blending pop with subtle jazz and funk influences. His sound feels both contemporary and rooted, shaped by years of performing and exploring different corners of music.
There's a good chance you've already heard him - his debut work received regular airplay on Dutch radio, including stations like Sublime, NPO Radio 2, and Veronica, while his single I Can't Take It Back reached a wider audience through national radio and the Soul & Jazz charts.

His music carries a certain ease. Grooves that don't try too hard, melodies that stay with you, and a balance between precision and looseness. Whether it's tracks like Cruisin' or more stripped-back moments, there's always a sense of timing - knowing when to hold back and when to move forward.
That same feeling runs through this selection. The playlist shifts between influences and moods, but never loses its coherence. It reflects the kind of music that surrounds his daily life - and, in a way, ours as well.
